24 days birding will take Uganda to all best birding spots in Uganda with Uganda counting of the 50% of bird count and 10% of world’s total count
DAY 1: ARRIVAL DAY
Today on your arrival at Entebbe international airport you will be welcomed by our safari guide from African skimmer tours and travel who will be waiting at the airport and drive you at booked hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
DAY 2: TRANSFER TO MABAMBA BIRDING SWAMP AND LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
You will have breakfast early in the morning and meet your driver guide to look for the rare and beautiful shoebill stork that resides in this wetland alongside other birds like papyrus Gonolek and other water bird species with 300 species of birds and therefore we proceed with our trip to lake Mburo national park with En-route lunch at Uganda equator line crossing and have chance to explore souvenir markets around and take photos for the lifetime moments and then continue to lake Mburo national park checking in to the booked lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight
DAY 3: LAKE MBURONATIONAL PARK
We will rise early in the morning and have breakfast and meet our driver guide to check in the park for morning bird watching. You will return at the lodge for lunch and then afternoon head to Lake Mburo for adventure boat cruise giving you another chance to view more bird species you could have missed in the morning like African finfoot, blue-napped mouse bird, African fish eagle, greenwood hoope, brown parrot and many more.
DAY 4: TRANSFER TO MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
You will have relaxed breakfast and checkout of the lodge v and meet your guide to transfer you to Mgahinga national park with the amazing great views and sceneries of Kigezi highlands known as the Switzerland of Africa
You will check in to the booked lodge and for relaxation and dinner and overnight
DAY 5: FULL DAY’S BIRDING MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
You will wake up early morning and go for birding in the montane vegetation of the park with most bird species being the montane habitats such us Rwenzori Turaco, Dwarf honeygude, Kivu Ground thrush, Rwenzori double collared, mountain yellow wablers and many more bird species
You will return to the lodge for lunch and take the rest of the day at the lodge
DAY 6: BIRDING IN RUHIJA SECTOR OF BWINDI
This is the mixture of nature walk and birding in Ruhija sector of bwindi impenetrable national park and the sector is gifted with different bird species like Rwenzori batis, White browed crombe, white napped raven, purple breasted sunbird, African green broadbill, handsome francolin, mountain masked, Rwenzori Apalises and many more
DAY 7: BIRDING IN MUBWINDI SWAMP
Still nestled in the African rain forest is Mubwindi swamp, we will be looking out for the white tailed flycatcher, grey headed sparrow, black necked weaver, red-headed Milambe, pink footed puffback, montane oriole, Waller’s starling, mountain illadopsis, Rwenzori nightjar and many more
DAY 8: BIRDING IN BUHOMA SECTOR OF BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
This sector is where the headquarters of bwindi impenetrable national park are located and you will wake up early morning to lake for the albertine endemics and most of the forest species and many others include Brown caped weaver, yellow billed, and yellow spotted barbet, African and black and white flycatcher, common stonechat, brown-throated and chestnut wattle –eyes and many more
DAY9: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI GORILLA PARK
In the world we have 800 mountain gorillas with half of the world’s total count found in Uganda with in Bwindi impenetrable national park. You will have relaxed breakfast and meet your guide you will take you to the briefing point by the ranger guide who leads to different trails to meet with the gentle apes in close ranger and this one of the lifetime and adventure memories of your safari.
You will return to the lodge after spending 1 hour with gorilla and take the rest of the day at the lodge.
DAY 10: TRANSFER FROM BWINDI TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Today you will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge and transfer to queen Elizabeth national park with En-route birding and animal viewing along the savannah part of queen Elizabeth national park in the remote sector of Ishasha commonly known for tree climbing lions
DAY 11: FULL DAYS EXPLORE QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning we leave with the warm cup of coffee/tea and meet your guide to go for morning game drive to look for more savanna species of birds and then return to the lodge for breakfast and relax until lunch. Immediately after your relaxed lunch you will drive to go for afternoon boat cruise to look for species of birds along Kazinga channel that you could have missed in the morning and this channel is mostly full of water birds like black winged stilt, great white and pinked pelican, saddle billed stork, yellow billed stork, pied kingfisher , African wattled lapwing, African skimmer, cattle egrets and little egrets, hammerkop, sacred ibis and hadada ibis and many with queen Elizabeth national park totaling to over 600 species of birds.
DAY 12 TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
After relaxed breakfast you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kibale forest national park along the way expect to see yellow mantled widowbird the black and black-winged red bishop, common bulbul, all species of doves, pigeons and many more
DAY 13&14: OPTIONAL ACTIVITY CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND BIRDING
We bird here for two full days in search of darling green breasted pitta and more forest species like brown illadopsis, brown capped weaver, and African green pigeon, great blue Turaco in Bigodi wetland, African emerald cuckoo, and African wood owl among others
DAY 15: TRANSFER TO SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK
You will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge meet your guide to transfer to Semuliki national park with en-route birding and then check in to the booked lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge until dinner and overnight.
DAY 16: FULL DAY BIRDING IN SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK
Semuliki national park is one of the best birding spots in Uganda and it is known for central African species which cannot be seen anywhere else in east Africa yet their some continents most specular and most sought after birds such as long tailed hawk, Congo serpent eagle, lyre- tailed honeyguide, black-casqued wattled hornbill, Nkulengu rail, and other species like swamp palm bulbul, spotted Greenbul, white-starred robin, lowland akalat, red throated alethea among others
DAY 17: MORNING BIRDING AND AFTERNOON TRANSFER TO FORT PORTAL
The earlier session of this day will be spent in the forest looking for species missed previous day and after head to fort portal for the night.
DAY 18: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Today is long day, we will be driving through an escarpment towards the Murchison falls national park. Look out for birds like yellow –rumped and yellow-fronted tinker bird, foxy cisticola and many more.
DAY 19: FULL DAY BIRDING MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Today, we shall wake up early in the morning and go for game drive, a chance to a lot of wildlife but most importantly, keep your eye pealed for the giant, pied, malachite, stripped, chestnut-bellied, blue-breasted, woodland and African pygmy kingfisher and many others like African fish eagle
Return to the lodge for full breakfast and relax until lunch and then evening go for boat ride on the bottom of the falls while searching for species like elusive shoebill stork, little grebe, great white and pink-backed pelican; saddle billed stork and many others species.
DAY 20: BIRDING TO BUDONGO FOREST VIA KANIYO PABIDI
We leave the park birding and head to Uganda’s biggest forest reserve second most important birding area after Semuliki national park. We bird through Kaniyo Pabidi for some hours and then head to booked hotel in Masindi
DAY 21: BIRDING BUDONGO FOREST
Today, we bird Budongo forest which has prolific birdlife with two species of birds not seen elsewhere in east Africa .10 of 22 species of the Sudan –guinea savannah biome and 93 of the 144 species guinea-Congo forest biome that occur in Uganda.
We bird through the amazing Royal mile and several other trails for the full day as we look for many different bird species that reside here
DAY 22: TRANSFER FROM BUDONGO FOREST TO MABIRA FOREST
Wake up with relaxed breakfast and checkout of the lodge to transfer to Mabira forest with en-route lunch in Kampala capital city of Uganda and then proceed to eastern route to Mabira forest checking in to the booked lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 23: BIRDING IN MABIRA FOREST
This is the biggest reserve closest to the city center and its boosts of 315 species of birds with 74 0f 144 species of Guinea- Congo forest biome occur in Uganda.
You will have a chance to view a lot of species of birds
DAY 24: END OF THE BIRDING TOUR AND DEPARTURE
You will have relaxed breakfast as you wait for the departure flight time to transfer at the airport for departure
