This is an once-in-a-lifetime bird Watching and game viewing experience. This Safari takes you to all Uganda’s prime birding spots including Africa’s number one bird watching spot, RUHIJJA in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You have the opportunity to see specialties from the Albertine Rift Mountains and from the five biome species of Central and Eastern Africa to which Uganda is amidst. These biomes comprise the Sudan–Guinea Savanna with 22 Ugandan species restricted to it, the Guinea–Congo Forests biome with 144 species, the Lake Victoria Basin biome with 12 species, the Afro-tropical Highlands biome with 88 species, and the Somali–Masai biome with 32 species. All the selected sites are very rich in other wildlife and flora, expect to meet a big number of mammals for example; Lions, Buffaloes, Elephants, Leopards, Hippopotamus, Warthogs, and many more.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international airport
Today our guide representative from African skimmer tours will be eagerly waiting to pick you on arrival at Entebbe international airport and transfer you at booked lodge in Entebbe for relaxation, dinner and overnight
Day 2: Birding Mabamba swamp and transfer to Lake Mburo national park
You will have breakfast early in the morning and meet your driver guide to look for the rare and beautiful shoebill stork that resides in this wetland alongside other birds like papyrus Gonolek and other water bird species with 300 species of birds and therefore we proceed with our trip to lake Mburo national park with En-route lunch at Uganda equator line crossing and have chance to explore souvenir markets around and take photos for the lifetime moments and then continue to lake Mburo national park checking in to the booked lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight
Day 3: Morning birding with boat ride and afternoon birding in the park
We will rise early in the morning and have breakfast and meet our driver guide to check in the park for morning bird watching. You will return at the lodge for lunch and then afternoon head to Lake Mburo for adventure boat cruise giving you another chance to view more bird species you could have missed in the morning like African finfoot, blue-napped mouse bird, African fish eagle, greenwood hoope, brown parrot and many more.
Day 4: transfer too Ruhija birding en-route
Today you will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge to transfer to Ruhija sector passing through the rollilng hills of Kigezi and en-route birding with en-route lunch and in Kabale town and later proceed to Ruhija sector reaching late in the evening at booked lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 5: Full day birding Mubwindi swamp to look for African Green broadbill
Still nestled in the African rain forest is Mubwindi swamp, we will be looking out for the white tailed flycatcher, grey headed sparrow, black necked weaver, red-headed Milambe, pink footed puffback, montane oriole, Waller’s starling, mountain illadopsis, Rwenzori nightjar and many more
Day 6: Transfer to Buhoma birding through the neck of Bwindi forest
Early in the morning and bird through the neck of the Bwindi forest along the way as we transfer to Buhoma reaching by lunch time and relax until dinner as you enjoy the lodge facilities
Day 7: optional gorilla trekking or birding through the waterfall trail
Today you have to two option either to choose to do gorilla trekking or birding along the waterfalls trail and this is done on your booking with us this safari for earlier booking of the gorilla trekking permits
Day 8: birding through the waterfall trail
This sector is where the headquarters of bwindi impenetrable national park are located and you will wake up early morning to lake for the Albertin endemics and most of the forest species and many others include Brown caped weaver, yellow billed, and yellow spotted barbet, African and black and white flycatcher, common stonechat, brown-throated and chestnut wattle –eyes and many more
Day 9: transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park passing through ishasha sector for tree climbing lions
Today you will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge and transfer to queen Elizabeth national park with En-route birding and animal viewing along the savannah part of queen Elizabeth national park in the remote sector of Ishasha commonly known for tree climbing lions
Day 11: Transfer to kibale national park and evening birding
Today you will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge to transfer to Kibale forest national park with En-route visit birding and visit the region of crater lakes and check into the booked lodge for lunch and later participate in the evening birding around the lodge
Day 12: morning birding in Kibale forest to look for green breasted
Pitta and afternoon birding in Bigondi Swamp
Today we shall spend the whole day birding in semuliki forest for central African species of Congo’s Ituri forest and also have chance to visit the male and female hot spring found with in the park and have chance to boil some eggs. You have chances to meet with species like Long tailed Hawk, Nothern Red-chested Owlet, Western Bronze-naped pigeon, Congo Serpent Eagle, Grey throated Rail, black Collared love bird, mountain wagtail, Toro olive, dusky blue flycatcher, Booted eagle among others
Day 13: transfer to Semuliki forest national park
Today after breakfast check out of the lodge and transfer to Semuliki national and birding along the way and for the experience searching for central African species found only here in east Africa reaching the lodge by lunch time and do evening birding near your lodge
Day 14: full day birding in semuliki
Today we shall spend the whole day birding in semuliki forest for central African species of Congo’s Ituri forest and also have chance to visit the male and female hot spring found with in the park and have chance to boil some eggs. Day 15: transfer to Murchison falls
Today is long day, we will be driving through an escarpment towards the Murchison falls national park. Look out for birds like yellow –rumped and yellow-fronted tinker bird, foxy cisticola and many more. Passing through the region of many tea plantations along the way and a mazing traditional homesteads
Day 16: morning birding in Murchison falls national park and evening boat cruise on the bottom of falls
Today you have early morning cup of coffee/ tea and check into the savannah part of these park to look out for species like African hawk eagle, booted eagle, sparrow weaver, Black –faced waxbill, Black- headed Batis, swallow tailed bee-eater, sunbirds, crested francolin, Red throated bee-eater among other and later return to the lodge for full breakfast and relax until lunch and then afternoon continue with Birding on the base of falls with boat cruise and enjoy the sightseeing of more water birds like saddle and yellow billed stork, cormorants , pied kingfishers, among others
Day 17: Drive back to Kampala and depart back home
Today you will have relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge to transfer back to Kampala with en-route birding as you check out .of the lodge and En-route meals reaching in Kampala / Entebbe check into the hotel of your choice or drive for to the airport for the departure flight
